a playlist for the greatest holiday of the year

here we go, halloween 2024 playlist:

for those who cannot access Spotify or want to recreate this on their streaming service of choice, here’s a list of the songs on my 2024 halloween playlist (the first of its kind!), with some notes. happy listening:

1. “Hush Hush Hush Here Comes the Bogey Man,” Henry Hall & His Orchestra - I love a good song that references the singer/artist in the lyrics

2. “Bogey Wail,” Jack Hylton

3. “Run Rabbit Run,” Flanagan & Allen - technically a comedy track, but creepy at a lyrical level. featured in Get Out (Jordan Peele, 2017)

4. “Russian Roulette,” Dale Webha - I heard this years ago on a collection of trash rock & taboo songs from the 1960s and it cemented itself as the blackest of black comedy in song form (track unfortunately not available on Spotify, can be found on YouTube as of this date)

6. “I’M GETTING OUT WHILE I CAN,” Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter - this track sounds deeply cursed. from Hayter’s SAVED! album, a collection of apocalyptic gospel songs with an American folk-horror feel
